Cheat meals how do they help & why?!?! Well straight to the point They can reset hormones responsible for metabolism and insulin regulation, replenish glycogen for increased energy, and keep calorie-burning and fat-torching mechanisms high. A cheat meal is actually good and may help your metabolism. I have recently started implementing weekly cheat meals thanks to a special someone who pushes me to be the best version of me. In the past cheat meal would never cross my mind but as I became more analytical with my diet and training I began to notice that I was losing weight and looking too lean with no muscle growth so I decided to add a cheat meal and that has been honestly in my opinion has been transforming my body and I actually have noticed more muscle tone. I’ve researched and found that a scheduled cheat meal can actually help optimize your body’s hormones to avoid weight-loss plateaus and prevent it from entering starvation mode. That’s right, a well-rounded cheat can help you break through weight-loss plateaus! Now going into depth about how exactly this works well leptin which is a protein mainly found and made by fat tissue, regulates energy levels and appetite. It works with the brain to signal to suppress food intake and stimulate the use of energy hence calorie usage. It has been found that after fasting for 24 hours the body will decrease the release of these leptin proteins. But you may be wondering what is that feeling of hunger felt after you’ve been dieting for a few hours well that’s ghrelin a peptide hormone produced mainly by the stomach which is appetite stimulant that signals the release of growth hormones. But it doesn’t stop there after sustaining a low caloric diet the body will decrease the levels of the thyroid hormones T3 & T4 which help you maintain your metabolism this in turn lowers glycogen storage and that feeling of feeling weak and sluggish is due to this and unfortunately decreases your performance while exercising. So here is the good news after a cheat meal of high calories and carbohydrates after 72 hours has been seen to offset the drop in hormones (leptin, ghrelin) increasing your metabolism which can optimize your body and break through weight loss plateaus!
